January - A Thanksgiving Miracle

The sign on the front door read "Lockdown." (This means absolutely no visitors or classes.) What a disappointment! Our Thursday afternoon Bible study had been rescheduled to the morning, and now it seemed like it wouldn't take place at all. I asked if I could come back in the afternoon at our regularly scheduled time, and the CO (correctional officer) said to call later to check if they were still on lockdown.

When I called later, I was disappointed to hear they were still locked down. I asked if the lessons I had left could be handed out, and then was transferred to the Co at the front desk. When I spoke with him, he suggested I speak with the office in charge and ask permission to hold Bible

study - even though they were on lockdown. Honestly, in mymind I thought, "Never mind." But then he said, "What's it hurt to ask?" So I did. The Shift Commander answered and asked me how many women signed up, and I told him 10. Then he said, "Well, it is Thanksgiving. I will permit you to hold your Bible study." Thank you, God! I printed out 2 more copies of the lesson and raced up to the prison. When I arrived, there were 11 women signed up now, and I had exactly enough copies - one for each of us!

The women listened intently as I shared a message on gratitude. We laughed, cried, sand, and prayed. One woman asked for prayer to free her from addiction. She said, "I've been an addict for 10 years, and if I don't stop, I'm going to die." I said, "You're right, you are going to die. You need Jesus to help you! You can't do it alone." She prayed to accept Jesus as Savior and that He would help her overcome addition! Another of the women volunteered to close in prayer, and it was lovely! We had such a holy gathering in the Lord on Thanksgiving Day! God is doing great things behind the walls of the ACACC, and I'm so grateful to be a part of it!

ACPM would like to thank everyone who donated to the ministry through the Adams County Community Foundation Giving Spree. The foundation received over $3.6 million in gifts. Endowment gifts also increased from last year. ACPM was blessed to receive $20,022 in gifts this year and almost $10,000 in endowment gifts,

Many thanks to Conewago Enterprises for their generous contribution and to Jersey Mike's for allowing us to conduct a fundraiser in December.

We are truly grateful for your support and generosity towards this ministry. Continue to pray for ACPM and the volunteers that make ministry happen at both ACACC and in the community.

Save the date for “Celebration of Grace” Sunday, which is on April 27, 2025, which is the Sunday after Easter.

We invite churches and organizations in Adams County and surrounding counties to celebrate the grace and mercy of God towards inmates and their families by setting aside time in their worship services to pray specifically for those incarcerated; to come to the Lord’s Table in Communion in honor of inmates; and to consider a special offering to support the ministry of ACPM at Adams County Adult Correctional Complex.

Participant packets for “Celebration of Grace” Sunday will be available in March. Thank you so much for praying for how you can help and get involved!
